Confirmation

Teen Confirmation

Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. Confirmation involves the "sealing" and strengthening of the Holy Spirit, whose gifts make us more like Christ.

In the Archdiocese of Seattle, those baptized in infancy can now be confirmed in as early as the 7th grade. Your preparation (Year one) can begin as early as in the sixth grade year, preparing for the youth to then be confirmed in their Second Year of preparation, their 7th grade year. We are blessed, however, at MQP, to provide Confirmation preparation for all 6th-12th grade students, so a youth can begin preparing when they feel ready. Note that readiness could just mean being open to going to youth ministry and the following year, Confirmation classes, and it will hopefully be through that process that the teen finds themselves desiring for themselves to be confirmed.

Fulfilling Year One can be done through enrollment and participation in Youth Ministry. Immediate preparation (Year Two) for Confirmation begins in the fall with the Rite of Confirmation celebrated in February. In addition to Confirmation classes and youth ministry activities, the preparation process includes retreats and service opportunities. For further information, email confirmationdirector@mqp.org.
