parish leadership
Pastoral
Council
The parish Pastoral Council
is a
consultative body of
parishioners that advises and makes recommendations to the pastor concerning
the life and mission of Mary, Queen of Peace. The Pastoral Council's
purpose is to be a sign and witness of unity for the larger parish
community; to recommend parish priorities and directions; to assist the
pastor in pastoral planning; to promote community; and to foster
communication and understanding among parish organizations and between the
parish, the Archdiocese, and the universal Church.
The membership of the Pastoral Council should reflect the parish community
by being inclusive of the demographic realities of the parish. Members do
not represent a particular constituency, but should reflect the diversity of
the parish in terms of age, race, gender, and length of membership in the
parish. Members of the pastoral council must be baptized and confirmed Roman
Catholics in good standing with the Church. Meetings are held the first
Wednesday of each month (except August) at 7 p.m.

the areas of business, finance, administration, and accounting. Members of the
Finance Council must be baptized and confirmed in good standing with the Church.

Life
Teen and The Edge
MQP's Life Teen and "The Edge" are award-winning comprehensive programs
designed to minister to high school teens (Life Teen) and 6th-8th
graders (The Edge) of all faiths from a
uniquely Catholic perspective. Every Sunday night, we start out with a
5:00 p.m. Mass that is geared toward the teens, with vibrant music and
increased opportunity for teen participation. Throughout the school year,
all the teens are invited to have dinner together following Mass, and then
head down to their youth rooms. The youth group meetings run from 6:30 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. Each month we try
to incorporate two nights of Catechesis, one "Issue Night" (issues facing
today’s teens, and how to approach them from a
Catholic perspective), and one service night—where
the teens become Christ In Action. The teens also have opportunities
throughout the year for mission trips, retreats, leadership development, and
more. Our ultimate goal: to bring teens closer to Christ and to the Church.
