The Sacrament of Confirmation

Important Confirmation Links

Teen Confirmation

Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. Confirmation involves the "sealing" and strengthening of the Holy Spirit, whose gifts make us more like Christ.

In the Archdiocese of Seattle, those baptized in infancy must be at least 16 years of age by the date of Confirmation to be confirmed. Proximate preparation for Confirmation begins in the middle-school and early high-school years through participation in parish youth programs, such as The Edge and Life Teen. Immediate preparation for Confirmation begins in the fall and continues through the liturgical year, with the Rite of Confirmation celebrated the following fall. In addition to Confirmation classes and Life Teen activities, the preparation process includes retreats and service opportunities.
